Kickbacks...
Since Venholm is also in the service business we have seen over the decades a number of corporate facility managers and property management companies which demand a payment to them for the privilege of serving their company or client. As an example, a facility manager for a large bank (which no longer in business) required a payment to be a contractor - we refused and did not do business with him. When the bank closed he moved to a large non-profit in which we had served for well over a decade. He made his demand, we refused and we no longer have a contract with that non-profit.
Up Charges...
National property management companies normally require significant fees to be on their approved list of contractors. In other words, they receive funds on both sides of the transaction. As an example, Venholm had been serving a large company for years when they were purchased by a national company who used one of the largest property management firms in the world. They contacted Venholm and stated that we needed to raise our rates by 30% in order to pay their fees.
